Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
What to Do When You Worry Too Much is an interactive self-help book designed to guide 6-12 year olds and their parents through the cognitive-behavioral techniques most often used in the treatment of generalized anxiety. Metaphors and humorous illustrations make difficult concepts easy to understand, while prompts to draw and write help children to master new skills related to reducing anxiety. Engaging, encouraging, and easy to follow, this book educates, motivates, and empowers children to work towards change. Includes a note to parents by psychologist and author Dawn Huebner, Ph.D.

5 out of 5 stars WOW!! What a GREAT BOOK!!   December 31, 2008
My daughter has times when she is just fine and times when she worries about all sorts of things. I wasn't sure if I actually needed this book but I bought it because I thought it might help when she went through one of her periods of worry....and I am so glad that I did. A house in our neighborhood caught on fire and it stirred up some pretty intense worry. I am so glad that I had this book to read to her. She was smiling and laughing soon after we started it and it gave her (and me) some great and easy tactics to deal with the worries.

4 out of 5 stars for kids   December 18, 2008
This book was a good resourse for you to read WITH your child. had some helpful hints and tools to distract from the anxious episodes. It held the interest of my child and helped him to articulate some of his own feelings. NOT A CURE. But still useful.

5 out of 5 stars Very practical book!   December 17, 2008
I'm a therapist who works with children, teens and families. I found this book very practical, concise and "user friendly." I plan to use it with many of my clients.

4 out of 5 stars I was worried my almost 11 year old...   December 11, 2008
would think this simple book was beneath him but he liked it -he did not do any of the activities but he was receptive to listening. We went over it in one night in about 30 minutes (it is very short- many pictures) but he has wanted the allocated "worry time" of about 15 minutes every night since.

5 out of 5 stars Much Needed   December 11, 2008

This book is a perfect vehicle to teach children what their feelings are and how to identify them. It helps take the chaos out of their anxiety and also gives parents the words they need to explain what is happening.I have found that children struggling with anxiety and anger benefit from a multimodal approach. It is imperative to also arm them with relaxation techniques and self talk techniques. I recommend Angry Octopus(a relaxation story) and A Volcano in my Tummy(great lessons)along with What to do When You Worry Too Much. Watching your child's worries dwindle and their confidence grow is life changing.Angry Octopus: An Anger Management Story, introducing active progressive muscular relaxation and deep breathing (Indigo Ocean Dreams)A Volcano in My Tummy: Helping Children to Handle Anger
